Leadershift

Recommended for Year 9 Students

Year 9 students are plagued by self doubt, apathy, judgment and wanting to fit in. How do we then ask these students to rise up to the challenge of leading the middle school?

'Leadershift' looks at the individual. Leadership must begin with self. It is about shifting the way the students think and the way they see the world. It is about recognising how they interact with others and how they can better serve them. It is about doing things for others, not waiting for others to do it for them.

"Why lead? What’s in it for me?" are common questions asked by many Year 11 students as they face greater demands on their time from academic, social, extra curricular and work pressures. Why would they want to give up more of their time and get on board the ‘leadership gig’? 'Y Lead?' will take your students on a journey and show them that leadership is more than wearing a badge and standing out the front giving direction. It’s about creating meaning in the lives of those around them through their actions, be they small or grand.
