The Awards in 2012
We've thrown open the leadership challenge to
ALL SCHOOLS IN AUSTRALIA!
As you can see from the excitement generated by the inaugural Awards in 2010, this is a great opportunity to harness the energy of your senior leadership group and engage them in a project that not only gives them a chance to develop their skills, but encourages them to leave a tangible legacy when they graduate. Such a project could be something that your school is already planning to do – why not submit it for consideration in the Awards? We’re looking for great student-driven projects that demonstrate a whole-school approach and fit our ongoing theme: ‘Leadership is any action that makes the world I touch a better place’. A short video diary of the project plus a few written responses to questions is all that is required to enter.
Your school could win some great prizes from yLead!

How to enter
Step 1
Download the Information for Entrants sheet (see below) and read it carefully so you have an overview of how the process will work and what the judges will be looking for.
Step 2
Download the Project Entry Form and complete and return it to us with an outline of your project by 30 March 2012.
Step 3
Download the yLead Community Leaders Awards 2012 flyer/poster and plaster them all over your school so that everyone knows about the project and can get excited about it. You might also want to make some of your own posters about your particular project.
Step 4
As you work on your project throughout the year, document the process in a video diary that demonstrates not just what the project is about but shows the leadership structure you have put in place to make it effective. Video your team meetings, film any events you hold, interview your teachers and fellow students, get your local media involved... it can be anything! The more creative the better!
Step 5
Assemble your final video presentation out of all the footage you have from the year, adding any music that you might want, and turning it into a short (5 minute) film that accurately captures the theme of your project. This will need to be uploaded to YouTube by 31 August 2012. (Guidelines on how to do this will be given after you've registered your entry in March.) You'll also need to send us something brief in writing (max 800 words) that outlines why you chose your project, the process your team went through to achieve the goals your set, and a reflection on how well this process worked. Ultimately it's about developing great skills in leadership that carry over into life beyond school.
Read the documents below for full details, or contact Claire at any time on 07 3368 3444 or claire@ylead.com.au if you want to discuss your project.
We hope to see YOUR SCHOOL's project in this year's Awards!
