The yLead Story

In 1989, Toastmasters world champion and renowned corporate trainer Bernie Kelly had a dream – to create a totally inclusive University of self esteem for youth.  Over 21 years, yLead has been inspiring youth and creating leaders of tomorrow who are instilled with a vision of making a difference to the world we live in.  In 2009, Bernie was awarded the National Pride of Australia Medal in the category of Inspiration.

yLead delivers extraordinary experiences in a fun, interactive and unique style that elevates self-belief, self-confidence and self-worth. Our philosophy is that ‘Leadership is any action that makes the world I touch a better place’ and that every person has the potential be a leader and create positive change in their world.

In 2011, yLead partners with over 250 schools Australia-wide and impacts around 40,000 young people every year. Our young and dynamic team is taking Bernie’s legacy to great heights and finding new ways to engage young people.

The yLead Teaching Philosophy

yLead believes that experience is the most powerful means of deep learning.  Our experiences are designed to stimulate students by engaging all of their senses and learning preferences.  Interactive discussions, potent debriefs and inspiring multimedia presentations create powerful visual and auditory impact; complemented by games and activities that have become a feature in our signature hands on, kinesthetic teaching style.

yLead also believes in the value of young people empowering and educating the next generation of inspirational leaders.  Our facilitators are young professionals that embody the yLead values of fun, passion and energy; and have an extraordinary ability to engage and connect with students.
