The Australian Student Leadership Conference
Australia's premier student leadership residential training courses
Since 1991, Australian Student Leadership Conferences have attracted thousands of student leaders from around Australia and are regarded as mandatory by many secondary schools. The primary purpose is to engage young adults in powerful leadership and personal growth development experiences. These experiences generate genuine self belief and a vision and values driven commitment to contribute positively towards our society.

The Conference practices and principles have evolved from many years of student leadership research, demonstrating that upon acceptance of leadership responsibilities most students agonise over four key questions:
- Now that I am a leader, what do I actually do?
- How do I balance leadership responsibilities with study, sport and social needs?
- Will I lose friends?
- How will I gain the respect, commitment and support of my peers?
The leadership model of the 80's and 90's, defined as 'making sure that students are behaving themselves at the bus stop' or 'leading the cheering on Sports Day', is now replaced by student leaders who directly:
- Impact the quality of student life
- Make a difference in community
- Enhance the school environment
- Address social justice issues
Many students find this experience life-changing and liberating! yLead, was recently told by a Head of Senior at a QLD School that: "The AUSTRALIAN STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE is relevant, inspiring and highly motivational, making it a very worthwhile experience for our students."
STOP PRESS! For the fist time, yLead is introducing to Queensland the Community Leaders Award. It is an initiative that will encourage students to DO THE DOING!
