Objectives and Outcomes
The Conference Journey
The Australian Student Leadership Conference takes students on a journey of experiential learning and discovery. The program has been created around yLead’s five core facilitation principles – it must be FUN, INTERACTIVE, INSPIRATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL and TRANSFORMATIONAL. The agenda is based on 21 years experience, being continually enhanced and evolved to be state-of-the-art and highly relevant to today’s youth.
Stage 1 focuses on the INDIVIDUAL, empowering students with strong self-belief, and the essential skills and tools necessary to effectively lead themselves.
“To be a great leader, you must first be a great person.” – Tony Robbins
Stage 2 explores leadership styles in a TEAM environment. Students are given challenging activities and scenarios through which they learn valuable skills and techniques in how to manage, inspire and motivate their peers and teams.
“The task of the leaders is to get his/her people from where they are to where they have not been.” – Henry Kissinger
Stage 3 looks at leadership in the COMMUNITY. Students explore topical issues facing today’s youth and develop innovative strategies that can be implemented in their school or wider community to help form a solution.
“Leadership is any action that makes the world I touch a better place.” – Bernie Kelly
